Other Shoes 09

Ok Honors kids, it's time for Other Shoes. On your blog I want you to list the members of your group by Friday, tell us what your plan is and how you are going to execute it and also your hypothesis for an outcome. Then, go to two other blogs from class and comment (in a constructive way) about their plans. Comment to this post only when you have finished all three parts of this assignment. Hello New Honors Bloggers!!

Welcome to the world of blogging. I hope this process was not too stressful. We will be using this often to post, participate and discuss various assignments often in English III Honors. Holden Back the Tears

So, The Catcher in the Rye, what do you think of it so far? There is a lot to be said for this book and more specifically Holden Caufield. He has been seen so often as both the hero and anti-hero not only of his time, but as a symbol of teen angst for generations.

So what do you think? Three chapters in, deep in the inner workings of "Old Pency" what do you think of Holden so far?

We're Tuesday people. . .

So we're finishing the book over the weekend. I just wanted to open up a post to see if 1.) anyone was actually still checking this thing and 2.) give you a forum to post your thoughts/feelings about the book as a whole and especially the end of the book. There's no grade. You don't have to. But if you'd like to espouse your feelings and or sentiment about Morrie, his life and his philosophies or the impact that it did or did not have on you, comment below. And have a great and safe weekend.

Morrie movie assignment.

Due tomorrow. Tuesday 1-27. After watching the first part of the movie let's do a little compare and contrast on your blogs. Find a way to discuss the ways in which the Movie, ABC News video interview, and the book are similar. You need to analyze the ways these are the same and the ways in which watching the interview video clip and movie version is beneficial. Also, if you feel that the movie version is not helpful, or in someways takes away from what you either read in the book, or saw in the original interview, discuss that. You need to: 1.) post your response on your blog by 3:00 tomorrow, or it will be late. 2.) post a comment at the bottom of this to tell me you are done, AND 3.) read at least one other person's blog and comment leave a comment about what they wrote under their posts by Wednesday at midnight. email questions to me at jtoland@rivertonschools.org

Update 1/25

Hello all, I will be gone on Monday to stay home with my sick daughter. I will post your assignment on here from home during the day. Please make sure that you read all the directions and post by the allotted time on Tuesday. This is a work in progress, but we are off to a great start. If you would like to post a general comment to me or about how you like or dislike this blogging thing, comment to this post and I'll read it. Make sure that when you are completing an assignment for class that you post the comments and let me know when you are finished under the correct assignment post.
