Non-fiction Non-narrative Salinger

Read the article I have provided you about JD Salinger.  What connections do you make to this article?  What connections can you tie into your interpretation of the character of Holden Caulfield based on this article?  How has reading this article helped you to connect to Salinger as a writer?

Why connect? . . . . Phony or not?

So, we've been reading, and we've been talking about connecting, but why?  What's the point?  Let's discuss it.  Below, in the comments section, I want you to answer the question: Why is it important that we make connections whtn we read or listen to music or watch something that includes audio and visual media (movie, film clip, tv show, etc).  After you respond, then come back, and comment on other people's comments (nicely).  You DO NOT have to post on your own blog for this one.  I'll start . . .

Connecting to Holden

Establish a Key Concept from your reading of The Catcher in the Rye, and, in your own blog, discuss your connection to that key concept either through personal stories or connections through pop culture references or learned experiences. Explain how your connection helps you to understand about the character of Holden Caulfield or what Sallinger is communicating to you through your reading of this novel.
